What's in this series?

From screenplay to film, and from film to television series

Fatmagül’ün Suçu Ne? is not verified as a direct novel adaptation. It belongs to an adaptation chain connected to Vedat Türkali’s screenplay, which was filmed by Süreyya Duru in 1986. Ay Yapım’s 2010 television series expands the core story into a much longer narrative focused on justice, healing, and Kerim’s accountability.

Social stigma and the search for justice

The central conflict asks why responsibility should not be placed on the woman who was assaulted, but on those who committed the assault. Mustafa’s abandonment of Fatmagül and the attempt to cover up the crime through marriage expose issues of social reputation, patriarchal power, and access to justice. This is a thematic reading, not a claim that the series is based on a specific real case.

Production and creative team

The series was produced by Ay Yapım, with Kerem Çatay as producer, Hilal Saral as director, and Ece Yörenç and Melek Gençoğlu as screenwriters. Filming began in Çeşme and continued in Istanbul.

International distribution framework

Kanal D International presents the series internationally under the title “Fatmagul” and lists it as available with finished episodes and as a format. The catalogue lists English, Spanish, Arabic, Russian, French, Portuguese, and Romanian dubbing.
