Cranberry Sorbet (Kızılcık Şerbeti) first aired on 28 October 2022 on Show TV.

The main cast of Cranberry Sorbet includes Evrim Alasya (Kıvılcım Arslan), Barış Kılıç (Ömer Ünal), Özlem Çakar (Sevilay), Vurgun Adalayı (Yusuf), Ceren Yalazoğlu Karakoç (Nursema Ünal), Aliye Uzunatağan (Sönmez Arslan).

The available sources do not identify a specific novel, story, book, film, series, play, memoir or historical work as the source of the series. The broadcast statement about a true story should not be treated as a confirmed adaptation of an identifiable work.

The series uses the statement “adapted from a true story” in its broadcast presentation, but the available sources do not identify a specific real event, person or verifiable case. The connection to real life therefore remains uncertain.

Kızılcık Şerbeti was distributed internationally as "Cranberry Sorbet".

Three characters of Kızılcık Şerbeti (Cranberry Sorbet) died on screen, and two of the actresses have told their own version of what happened behind the scenes, while the third exit was described by a former castmate. Ceren Karakoç, who played Nursema for four seasons, said in an Ayşe Arman interview released in parts from 8 October 2026 that she had agreed with the producer on a new season, went on holiday, and was then urgently called in by the production company and told her job was over; she said she had not known that the crash in episode 138 would end in her character's death (episode 139). In the part of the interview reported on 11 October she said Sibel Taşçıoğlu learned on set, while filming, that Pembe would die one episode later, and called this a "sector-wide" practice. Aliye Uzunatağan, who played Sönmez, told TGRT Haber on 4 October that she had never objected to her fee for four years, that her character was killed off when she asked for a raise for season 5, and that she understood this when she was told to "faint" in her last scene. Producer Faruk Turgut had said in June that Uzunatağan raised a fee problem "every year"; the two accounts contradict each other on this point. As of 13 October the production has not publicly responded to Karakoç's or Taşçıoğlu's accounts. On 14 October journalist Birsen Altuntaş wrote that Karakoç is returning to the team; the claim followed the exit of the show's two writers, but there is no statement confirming it from Gold Film, Show TV or Karakoç, and it is not known in which episode or how the return would happen.

Show TV and producer Gold Film announced on 15 September 2026 that Asena Keskinci will play Çimen, Kıvılcım's daughter, in season 5 of Kızılcık Şerbeti (Cranberry Sorbet), which starts on Friday 18 September at 20:00. Selin Türkmen, who carried the role for four seasons, left at the season 4 finale by her own choice, according to journalist Birsen Altuntaş on 6 May 2026; no other reason was made public. Keskinci is known as Yağmur in Bez Bebek and most recently starred in the HBO Max series Jasmine; she trained at Istanbul University State Conservatory. In the same season Feyza Civelek, Neslihan Yeldan, Barlas Kartal and Ceren Karakoç also left the cast and Murat Aygen joined. As of 15 September the new Çimen has not yet appeared on screen; the audience's reaction will be visible with the first episode.

Hamide Akkuş, the actress known as Aylin in Kızılcık Şerbeti (Cranberry Sorbet), got engaged to her boyfriend Tugay Ercins in Istanbul. Habertürk announced the ceremony on 12 September 2026, while TGRT Haber and Haberler.com dated the engagement 13 September. According to TGRT, the ceremony took place at La Forêt Istanbul with around 100 guests, families and close friends, in an intimate setting; Milliyet and Mynet reported that the Turkish "the scissors won't cut" custom was performed as the rings were exchanged and that money "rained" onto the tray. Co-star Feyza Civelek shared photos from the event. How long the couple has been together and a wedding date have not been announced, and the reports give no profession or age for Tugay Ercins. Although the Aylin role is common knowledge in the press, Hamide Akkuş is not listed in TMDB's 66-person cast record for the series.

According to production sources, the departure was the actor's own choice: Sıla Türkoğlu wished to leave at the start of the season, but continued until episode 113 at the request of producer Faruk Turgut. The stated reasons were a desire to pursue new projects and career planning; the actor bid farewell to the series with the episode broadcast on November 14.
