Plot
Bahar meets Seymen in New York and follows him into marriage and life at his family’s ancestral mansion in Cappadocia. Educated and accustomed to a more individualistic way of life, Bahar faces the Karadağ family’s traditions, hierarchy and expectations. Seymen is caught between his love for Bahar and his loyalty to his family and its inherited obligations. Affairs within the household and the surrounding community bring together themes of love, jealousy, power, class, gender roles and communication. Dicle’s relationship with Seymen and forced marriage to Haydar, as well as Zeynep’s love for Salih, deepen the conflicts. When Bahar’s serious illness becomes central to the story, Seymen takes her to the United States for treatment; the series ends on an open note as they leave their family behind.
