What's in this series?
From the novel's period to the present day
The adaptation modernizes the novel’s period and setting. The novel begins in Istanbul and develops mainly around Zonguldak, while an official NOW interview describes the television series as a contemporary adaptation.
Jealousy within the family
The series presents jealousy not only as romantic rivalry but also as a feeling connected to unequal access to affection, status and visibility within a family. Seniha’s exclusion, Halit’s favored position and Mediha’s differing treatment of her children form the basis of this conflict.
A woman’s attempt to reclaim her life
Official promotional material presents Seniha as a woman who grows up unloved and burdened by a sense of worthlessness. The story follows her attempt to complete her education and build a new life through her inheritance while confronting her family. This describes the series’ verified fictional themes and does not imply that it is based on a real person’s life.
Ay Yapım, Nadim Güç and Yılmaz Şahin
The series is produced by Ay Yapım, with Kerem Çatay as producer, Nadim Güç as director and Yılmaz Şahin as screenwriter. ONK Ajans announced that the rights to Örik’s work had been secured for a television adaptation by Ay Yapım.
