Plot

Behzat Ç. is a chief inspector who graduated from the Police Academy in 1985 and works in Ankara’s Homicide Bureau. Because of his opposition to written justice and his confrontational methods, he remains outside the career path followed by many of his colleagues. Together with his team, he investigates murder cases that also expose personal trauma, professional conflicts and the political and social atmosphere of Ankara. The series adapts the fictional detective world created by Emrah Serbes while expanding its characters and stories for television.

What's in this series?

From novels to television

The first episode was adapted from Her Temas İz Bırakır. Screenwriter Ercan Mehmet Erdem stated that, after the novel’s story was completed in the first episode, the series continued with new television stories while retaining its fictional world and characters.

Ankara as more than a setting

The creators describe Ankara as an active part of the narrative rather than a passive backdrop. Specific urban locations and local speech help establish the city’s atmosphere.

Political crime drama and institutional criticism

Critical commentary identifies the series’ scrutiny of policing, institutional violence and contemporary political issues. References to real events function as context for the political crime drama, not as proof that the series is a direct dramatization.

Production and writing

The initial television run was produced by Adam Film and broadcast by Star TV. Inter Medya lists Tarkan Karlıdağ as producer, Serdar Akar and Doğan Ümit Karaca as directors, and Ercan Mehmet Erdem as screenwriter.
