Plot
After ascending the Ottoman throne in 1520, Sultan Suleiman arrives at Topkapı Palace determined to expand the power of the empire. His close friend and adviser Ibrahim supports him, but the arrival of Hurrem, brought to the palace as a slave, changes the balance of power. Hurrem wins Suleiman’s love, marries him and has his children, while Ibrahim rises as one of the most influential men in the court. Their personal relationships become intertwined with palace intrigue, political rivalry and the expansion of the Ottoman state. The series draws on historical figures and the period of Suleiman’s rule while reshaping them through fictional television drama.
