Plot
The series begins in Salonica during the final years of the Balkan Wars, with Ottoman officer Cevdet caught between military duty and his devotion to his family. After a betrayal separates him from Azize and their children Ali Kemal, Yıldız and Hilal, Azize moves with the children to Smyrna with help from Cevdet’s blood brother Tevfik. When Smyrna is occupied in 1919, Cevdet appears to serve within the Greek army while secretly working for the National Struggle and trying to protect his family. Azize, Hilal and Yıldız face the occupation directly, while Hilal’s closeness to the Greek officer Leon exposes the personal cost of the conflict. In the finale, Cevdet’s true identity is discovered by Filippos; Cevdet is arrested and pressured to reveal the plans of Mustafa Kemal Pasha and the Turkish army. Hilal and Yıldız flee Smyrna for the front, while Leon uses his position inside the Greek army to help the National Struggle.

The Cevdet–Mümin Aksoy connection
A public institutional journal states that Cevdet was adapted from Ottoman gendarmerie officer Mümin Aksoy, who is described as having conducted intelligence work within the Greek army during the National Struggle. This should be presented as an institutionally reported connection, not as a direct confirmation by the producers.

The story uses the occupation of Smyrna in 1919 and the rise of the Turkish National Struggle as the historical background for a family drama. Academic studies particularly discuss the series’ use of the flag, occupation and resistance motifs.
Production and international distribution
The series was produced by O3 Medya and directed by Yağmur Taylan, Durul Taylan and Burak Arlıel. Kanal D International presents it internationally under the title Wounded Love.
