What's in this series?

Production context

Hayat Bilgisi was broadcast in 2003, with Gani Müjde among its credited screenwriters, directed by Tarkan Karlıdağ and produced by Ali Gündoğdu. Reliable sources record four seasons and 137 episodes, while Kanal D’s archive contains a four-season episode catalogue.

School and social setting

The series portrays a high school where teachers take on extra work because of financial difficulties and students from different economic backgrounds face everyday problems. Rıdvan Kanat High School is the main setting where friendships, romances, social difficulties and teacher-student relations intersect.

Education and teaching

Through Afet, the series presents teaching as more than delivering a curriculum: it is also a responsibility to understand students’ lives and difficulties. Her conflicts with school administrators establish the central tension between an idealistic educational approach and institutional interests.

The resonance of Afet Teacher

Perran Kutman said that Afet Teacher could remind viewers of teachers from their own lives, and recalled a viewer telling her that they might have studied if they had had a teacher like Afet. This is the actor’s testimony about the character’s reception, not evidence of a measurable ratings success or a real-life model.
