What's in this series?
The story’s original starting point
Screenwriter Hilal Yıldız described the starting point of Yabani as the idea of a child abducted from a wealthy family who later finds himself at home years after falling into street life. She said the other characters and events were developed around this central character.
Blood ties and chosen bonds
A central theme is the tension between biological family and belonging created through shared experiences. The series emphasizes Yaman’s bond with the siblings he chooses on the streets and the question of whether chosen bonds can become stronger than blood ties.
A fast narrative structure
Hilal Yıldız explained that the main story of an entire season was concentrated into the first seven episodes, with major revelations about the family ties arriving at short intervals.
Character-centered writing
Yıldız said she starts by creating characters. For Yabani, she placed Yaman Ali at the center and developed the other characters around his journey and their own storylines.
