What's in this series?
From the Italian original to the Turkish adaptation
Doktor: Başka Hayatta transfers the central premise of DOC – Nelle tue mani to a Turkish hospital and character network. Both series focus on a doctor who has lost the last 12 years of his memory and must rebuild his past, profession and relationships. The Turkish version localizes this conflict through Prof. Dr. İnan Kural, Umutpark Medical Foundation Hospital, Elif, Aylin and Toprak.
Memory loss and the real-life connection
The international source chain connects the story to the experience of a real doctor who suffered memory loss. According to Rai’s official materials, DOC – Nelle tue mani was inspired by doctor Pierdante Piccioni’s life and the experience described in the book Meno dodici. This does not mean that every event or relationship in the Turkish series happened exactly as shown in real life.
Production and broadcast context
The series was produced by DASS YAPIM and broadcast by NOW. NOW’s official promotion lists İbrahim Çelikkol and Sıla Türkoğlu in the leading cast and credits Ketche as director. The first episode was announced for Sunday, March 8, 2026, at 8:00 p.m.
Identity, a second chance and the doctor-patient boundary
The story questions how memory, relationships and professional identity shape a person. İnan’s transition from doctor to patient and from his former self to a new life foregrounds themes of identity, fate, conscience, empathy and second chances.
