What's in this series?
From the novel to Istanbul
The series retains the central premise of four children whose institutional trauma becomes an adult quest for revenge, while relocating the story from New York and Wilkinson Home for Boys to Istanbul’s Kuyudibi district and a Turkish prison context.
The connection to the 1997 Gaziantep case
Press reports and academic analysis have associated the series’ imprisonment and abuse themes with a 1997 Gaziantep case involving children accused of stealing baklava. This does not prove that the characters are direct portraits of real people.
Production and international circulation
Produced by TIMS Productions, the series premiered on Show TV on March 1, 2012. The producer’s catalogue lists two seasons and 28 episodes. Global Agency presents Game of Silence as the international title.
Silence, trauma and revenge
The series explores how childhood violence shapes adult choices. The friends’ oath of silence is both an attempt to suppress trauma and a bond that preserves their shared responsibility. Their reunion forces them to choose between loyalty, love and revenge.
