Adaptation status
No reliable source located identifies Kara Melek as an adaptation of a literary or audiovisual work. In an interview, screenwriter Nuran Devres described it as a project she wrote and had previously submitted to TRT. The available evidence therefore supports classifying it as an original screenplay project.
Women-centered narrative and gender
An academic study lists Kara Melek among Turkish television series of the mid-to-late 1990s with women at the center. Another academic assessment describes Sanem Çelik’s character as an unusual female protagonist who cannot be reduced to a simple good-versus-evil opposition.
Writing and broadcast context
The screenplay is credited to Nuran Devres. Available catalogue and series records list the production as a TMC drama broadcast on Star TV. Sources disagree on running time and episode count: the distribution catalogue lists 160 episodes of 45 minutes, while some series catalogues list four seasons and 110 episodes.
Character-centered reception
Available assessments emphasize that Yasemin is both the central character and a figure with strongly immoral traits. Some secondary sources argue that audience interest in Yasemin affected the direction of the narrative, but this has not been confirmed by a sufficient primary source.
