Plot
Sarp Yılmaz is expelled from the police academy because of his father’s criminal past and later enters the circle of mafia boss Celal. Mert Karadağ joins the Organized Crime Branch and initially sees Sarp as an adversary. Sarp eventually learns that his supposedly dead brother is alive; later, Mert is revealed to be Sarp’s missing brother Umut. The brothers uncover the truth and turn against Celal, leading to a final confrontation. [S1][S3][S5]
Origins of the story
Adaptation status
Secondary sources describe Insider as adapted from or inspired by The Departed, but the reviewed official Ay Yapım and Show TV pages do not provide an explicit source-work credit. The connection is therefore recorded as uncertain rather than as a confirmed official adaptation. [S1][S7][S8][S9]
Connection to reality
The available official materials do not present the series as based on a real event or person. An academic study examines its representation of crime and violence, not a real-life source for the story. [S1][S10]

What's in this series?
The Departed / Köstebek connection and adaptation differences
Secondary sources describe İçerde as adapted from or inspired by The Departed. The shared element is the reciprocal infiltration of the police and criminal worlds. İçerde’s distinct adaptation choice is to make its two central figures brothers separated in childhood and to expand the story through family drama and an extended mafia conflict. [S1][S7][S8][S9]
Fictional representation of crime and violence
The series places police–mafia conflict, executions, threats and covert operations at the center of its drama. An academic study discusses the representation of crime and violence in the series; it does not establish that the plot is based on a real case. [S4][S5][S10]
Production context
The series was produced by Ay Yapım for Show TV. Its listed producers are Kerem Çatay and Pelin Diştaş Yaşaroğlu; it was directed by Uluç Bayraktar and written by Ertan Kurtulan and Toprak Karaoğlu. [S1][S2]
Brotherhood and suspense in official promotion
Show TV’s episode and news materials frame the central suspense around Sarp and Mert being separated brothers who do not know each other’s identity, followed by their reunion and confrontation with Celal. [S3][S5]
