Plot
Selim Kara, a public prosecutor, receives an unexpected offer from Selçuk Taşkın, an organized-crime leader he arrested eight years earlier. Selçuk agrees to testify against his criminal organization on the condition that Selim protect his son, Akgün Gökalp Taşkın. Selim takes Akgün to his family in Çeşme, İzmir, where the young man’s criminal background clashes with Selim’s principles and family life. Akgün’s relationship with Yağmur Kara further deepens the conflict between the Kara and Taşkın families. After Canan’s death, the Kara family is scattered: Selim withdraws while Akgün becomes a fugitive. Intelligence officer Sare Akay then asks Selim for help against a war between Istanbul mafia families, bringing the main characters into a new cycle of crime and reckoning.

Production context
Son Yaz was produced by O3 Medya, with Saner Ayar as producer and Deniz Dargı, Cem Görgeç, and Cenk Boğatur credited for the screenplay. Inter Medya presents the international title as “Last Summer.” The series premiered in Türkiye on FOX on January 1, 2021.
Justice and family responsibility
The central conflict places Selim’s duty to pursue an organized-crime case against his responsibility to protect Akgün inside his own family life. The series therefore treats justice through trust, responsibility, and family bonds as well as through investigation and testimony.
A fictional organized-crime framework
The story uses organized-crime leaders, prosecutorial investigation, testimony, and conflict between mafia families as crime-drama elements. The reviewed sources do not identify a specific real case or real person as the basis of the story.
Critical context
An Oksijen review emphasizes that the series combines Selim’s struggle to protect his family with the relationship between Akgün and Yağmur. This is presented as critical commentary, not as a claim of cult status or official audience success.
