Plot

Yonca and Gonca are twin sisters who were given to separate adoptive families immediately after birth. Yonca is a well-educated, independent woman working as an editor at a women’s magazine in Istanbul. Gonca was raised by Pire Nene in a mountain village in Elazığ. After learning that she has a twin sister, Gonca travels to Istanbul and moves into Yonca’s home. The sisters’ different experiences and habits lead to misunderstandings and comic situations. What's in this series?

Production and broadcast context

Kanal D’s online archive confirms that the series is built around twin sisters named Yonca and Gonca. An academic television-series catalogue lists 2002, Gani Müjde as the writer, Bahadır Atay as producer and Ömer Uğur as director. Secondary cast records list Janset and Günay Karacaoğlu in the leading roles, with Mehmet Bilge Aslan, Ruhi Sarı, Selma Ergeç and Selim Erdoğan also in the cast.

Urban and rural experiences

The series begins with Yonca, who was raised and works in Istanbul, and Gonca, who grew up in a mountain village in Elazığ, starting to live together. Official episode summaries show that Gonca’s village habits clash with Yonca’s urban routine. The contrast functions primarily as a source of everyday misunderstandings and comedy.

Everyday social issues in the comedy narrative

Episode summaries include domestic violence against women, child protection and voluntary caregiving. These examples show that the series also brings everyday social issues into its comic storylines rather than focusing only on romance and family misunderstandings.

Adaptation status

The reviewed official episode page, academic series list and cast records do not identify Yarım Elma as an adaptation of a specific literary or audiovisual work. No verified source work or adaptation differences have therefore been recorded.
