Biography
Ahmet Mümtaz Taylan is a Turkish actor and director born in Ankara on 12 September 1965. He graduated from the Theatre Department of Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory in 1989. That year he joined the Diyarbakır State Theatre, where he worked until 1993. His State Theatre career also included acting, directing, assistant artistic direction, artistic direction and advisory work for the institution’s general director. Taylan was among the founding members of the State Theatre Artists’ Association, known as DETİS, and became its first elected president. He received the 2002 İsmet Küntay Award for Best Director for his staging of Misafir. His television credits include Yılan Hikayesi, Leyla ile Mecnun, Güzel Köylü and Kızılcık Şerbeti, in which he played Abdullah Ünal. His film work includes Bir Zamanlar Anadolu’da and Kelebeğin Rüyası.
