Plot
Haysiyet tells the story of two families whose lifestyles, values and economic circumstances are sharply different. The Karlıova family makes a living through moving work in Istanbul and tries to protect its household and dignity through hard work. When the family crosses paths with the powerful and wealthy Tarman family, an attraction begins between Mehmet Karlıova, the youngest Karlıova son, and Simay Tarman, the Tarmans’ daughter. Their relationship, which begins before they know each other’s identities, soon becomes a love that places both families in conflict. Mehmet struggles between the life expected of him by his father Sadık and his own goals, while Haluk Tarman tries to keep his daughter away from Mehmet. Mehmet’s love, family responsibilities and commitment to his principles force him to confront the meaning of honor.

What's in this series?
Production context
Haysiyet is produced by Süreç Film, with Ali Gündoğdu and İnci Gündoğdu as producers, Eda Teksöz as director, and Leyla Uslu Oter and Cem Akyoldaş as screenwriters. The series was filmed in Balat, one of Istanbul’s historic neighborhoods. Music by Kıraç is presented as one of the elements reinforcing the production’s emotional atmosphere.
Class difference and family order
The central conflict is built around two families who live in the same city but belong to different economic and social worlds. The Karlıovas are represented through moving work, labor and family solidarity, while the Tarmans are associated with power and wealth. This makes Mehmet and Simay’s love part of a broader family and class conflict.
Love, family and honor
Haysiyet explores the tension between love and honor through Mehmet’s refusal to abandon his principles while pursuing his goals. Official promotional materials place family, conscience, pride, dignity and values among the story’s main axes of conflict.
A reference to the spirit of Yeşilçam
Kanal D’s promotional text frames the series as a production that builds its love and family conflict through scenes reflecting the spirit of Yeşilçam. This is the broadcaster’s promotional characterization, not an independent critical assessment.
