Plot
Bahar graduated from medical school twenty years ago but devoted herself to her family instead of pursuing medicine. When a sudden illness brings her close to death, the hidden sides of her seemingly perfect family life—especially her husband Timur—come to light. As she recovers, Bahar begins to reconsider her life and professional dreams. Evren, Timur’s professional rival, becomes an important part of her effort to rebuild her life. The series follows Bahar’s search for a new balance between family responsibilities, professional identity and personal freedom.
Origins of the story
Adaptation status
Bahar is the Turkish television adaptation of the South Korean series Doctor Cha. The story is localized through Turkish family, hospital and social settings rather than presented as a direct transfer of Korean cultural elements.
Why did Timur (Mehmet Yılmaz Ak) leave Bahar — did the character die?
Mehmet Yılmaz Ak (Dr. Timur Yavuzoğlu)
The character Timur was written out of the story through the script: at the end of season 2, it was shown that the plane he boarded bound for New York had crashed, and his death was confirmed through funeral scenes in the first episode of season 3. Producer MF Yapım stated that Mehmet Yılmaz Ak wanted to focus on new projects; the actor also said farewell on social media with the words "Goodbye, Prof. Dr. Timur Yavuzoğlu."

What's in this series?
From Doctor Cha to Bahar: cultural localization
Bahar reworks Doctor Cha’s central story of starting over within Turkish family relationships, hospital life and social surroundings. An academic comparison notes differences in setting and cultural context, including the localization of domestic and class-related elements. The study also argues that Korean cultural elements are not transferred directly or prominently into Bahar.
From family role to professional identity
The series centers on Bahar’s transformation from a woman devoted to her family into someone reclaiming her professional and personal identity. Show TV’s official presentation connects this transformation with rebuilding her life after illness and with tragicomic stories intended to offer hope.
Production and broadcast context
The series was produced by MF Yapım and broadcast on Show TV. The official production page lists the first-season episodes, while Show TV credits MF Yapım as producer, Mehmet Can Bindal as director, and Rana Mamatlıoğlu and Bekir Baran Sıtkı as screenwriters.
