What did the drug test of Afra Saraçoğlu, Seyran in Yalı Çapkını (The Golden Boy), show, and was she taken into custody?

Afra Saraçoğlu (Seyran Şanlı)

Short answer

Afra Saraçoğlu, Seyran in Yalı Çapkını (The Golden Boy), was abroad when a detention order was issued for her on 18 September; on 21 September 2026 she was taken into custody at Istanbul Airport upon returning from France, gave a statement to the gendarmerie, and was released after her procedures at the Forensic Medicine Institute and the prosecutor's office were completed. According to Forensic Medicine results reported in the press on 30 September, cocaine was detected in a hair sample; the reports reviewed do not include a detailed official report. In her written statement of 1 October, Saraçoğlu said she had been informed that a finding of "a substance" was detected in the hair analysis, said her blood and urine tests came back clean, that this could occur in her hair at crowded events she attends for work through "passive exposure or contact," and stated that she is not a user. In the same investigation, the test result for Aras Bulut İynemli, who was taken into custody on 18 September, came back negative according to reports. A test finding is not an accusation or a conviction; the reports reviewed contain no decision by the prosecutor's office based on these reports.

2 October 2026 — Afra Saraçoğlu's situation in the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office's drug investigation into public figures became clearer in two stages. The actress, who was abroad when a detention order was issued for her on 18 September, was taken into custody at Istanbul Airport on 21 September upon returning from France, and was released after the procedures against her were completed. According to reports on the Forensic Medicine Institute's findings, published on 30 September, cocaine was detected in a hair sample; the same reports wrote that Aras Bulut İynemli's test result came back negative. On 1 October, Saraçoğlu issued a written statement from her social media account saying she is not a user. This version replaces the previous version dated 18–19 September, when the actress had not yet returned to Türkiye.

When was Afra Saraçoğlu taken into custody?

The actress, who was abroad during the 18 September operation, had said that same day that she would "return to my country as soon as possible and give my statement in full cooperation with our judicial authorities." Türkiye Gazetesi and Haberler.com reported on the afternoon of 21 September that she had been taken into custody at Istanbul Airport upon returning from France. According to NTV, she first underwent a medical check at Şişli Hamidiye Etfal Training and Research Hospital, and after giving her statement to the gendarmerie was referred to the Forensic Medicine Institute. According to a report published by Sözcü on the evening of 21 September, she was released once her procedures at the Forensic Medicine Institute and the prosecutor's office were completed. The management company's statement read: "Afra Saraçoğlu, having ended her trip abroad and applied to the judicial authorities, has been released following the completion of her procedures before forensic medicine and the prosecutor's office." The reports reviewed contain no information that judicial control or any other measure was applied to her.

What did the test result show?

According to reports published on 30 September, Forensic Medicine Institute reports entered the investigation file. Haberler.com used the qualifier "allegedly" in the report's lead, but went on in the body of the text to state flatly that cocaine had been detected in Saraçoğlu's hair sample; Haber 7 relayed the same information as "reported in the press" and added the note that "in the current reports, the detailed official report on the result concerning Saraçoğlu has not been shared publicly"; Nefes also wrote that cocaine had been detected in the hair. The sources reviewed contain no statement from the prosecutor's office about the test results. The reports also contain no independent information about Saraçoğlu's blood and urine results; the information that these samples came back clean rests on the actress's own statement.

What did Afra Saraçoğlu say?

The actress shared a written statement from her social media account on 1 October. Ege Telgraf relayed the full text of the statement; the section on the hair analysis appeared with the same wording in Cumhuriyet, Türkiye Gazetesi and Başka Gazete as well. From the text relayed by Ege Telgraf: "The reason I waited to make this statement is that the forensic medicine report concerning me was only uploaded to the file today. As soon as I learned of the investigation, I ended my trip abroad and returned to my country of my own free will […] I would like to state that while I was abroad, no criminal element or illegal substance was found in the searches conducted at my home." On the hair analysis, she wrote: "However, quite unexpectedly, we were informed that the report found evidence of a substance in my hair strand analysis. From what I have learned from experts, hair strands are a structure extremely open to external factors. At crowded events I attend because of my profession, this kind of technical trace can apparently remain, without one being aware, through passive exposure or contact. The fact that my blood and urine are clean already confirms that I am not a user." The actress, who thanked the gendarmerie teams and the judicial authorities and apologized for occupying the public agenda, ended as follows: "I am absolutely against the use of illegal substances; it has no place in my life and never will." The statement does not name the substance; the information that it was "cocaine" comes from press reports. "Passive exposure" is the actress's own statement; this file makes no scientific assessment of it, and the reports contain no comment from the Forensic Medicine Institute on this matter.

Where do the sources diverge?

The daily Karar presented the same statement in different wording and as a direct quotation ("According to what I have learned from the experts I consulted…", "I absolutely do not use narcotic substances"); because these phrases do not appear in Ege Telgraf's full text or in the other three sources that give the hair section in the same wording, this file did not use that version. Karar also attributed the investigation to the "Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office"; the file belongs to the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. Cumhuriyet's headline "whose drug test came back positive" is based on the hair analysis; the actress says her blood and urine are clean. There is also a small date discrepancy: the results were reported in the press on 30 September, while the actress wrote in her 1 October statement that her report was uploaded to the file "only today." The word "yesterday" in NTV's report is not a contradiction: since the page was updated on the morning of 22 September, it refers to 21 September; the first reports of her detention were likewise published on the afternoon of 21 September. The information some sites gave on the morning of 18 September that she had been "taken into custody" was not accurate that day: the actress was abroad at the time, and her detention took place on 21 September.

What is the status for Aras Bulut İynemli and others?

Aras Bulut İynemli, Yamaç in Çukur, had been taken into custody on 18 September and, according to Haberler.com, was released after hair, blood and urine samples were taken at the Forensic Medicine Institute; according to reports of 30 September, his test result came back negative. The reports reviewed contain no separate statement from İynemli about the result. Haberler.com and Haber 7 wrote that cocaine was found in Hasan Şaş's blood and urine samples and cocaine and codeine in his hair sample, while Yağız Sabuncuoğlu's result was negative. The decisions of 19 September remained unchanged according to the reports: Sayat Zurnacı and Aytaç Kart were arrested; Muhammet Kahyaoğlu, Nilperi Şahinkaya and Hasan Şaş were released under judicial control; and 10 people, including İynemli, Melis Sezen and Sefo, were released after Forensic Medicine procedures. The result for the six people in the second file — which also carries the charges of "violation of privacy," "blackmail" and "mediating prostitution" — is not found in the reports reviewed. The test results for the other names were not addressed in this update.

Which series has Afra Saraçoğlu appeared in?

According to TMDB cast records, she is listed on this site in three productions: Seyran Şanlı in Yalı Çapkını (The Golden Boy), Gizem in Öğretmen (The Teacher), and Tülin Saygı in Yeşilçam. Her last public comment before the investigation was relayed by Sözcü on 1 June 2026: she described leaving atv's series A.B.İ. by saying "My character's story ended. That is why I left the series"; that statement is unrelated to the investigation. The investigation is not directed at these series or their producers. According to Euronews Türkçe, the operation is the latest link in a chain of similar investigations ongoing since December 2025. The file on this site about Çağla Boz, however, belongs to a separate investigation conducted not by Bakırköy but by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office; the two files should not be conflated.

What does the test result mean, and what comes next?

A Forensic Medicine finding is not an accusation or a conviction. The reports reviewed contain no new decision by the prosecutor's office about Saraçoğlu or the other names based on these reports, and no detailed official report. Arrest and judicial control are likewise pre-trial measures, not convictions. The next thresholds are: the prosecutor's office's decision on the file, the result for the six people in the second file, and any possible official statement about the reports. Unless there is a final court ruling against her, Afra Saraçoğlu — like the other names on the list, including those arrested — is innocent.
