Plot

Support from military institutions and TCG Istanbul
Operasyon Alesta was developed with the support of the Turkish Ministry of National Defence and the Turkish Naval Forces. The TCG Istanbul frigate, described in the production material as the first frigate designed with Türkiye’s national capabilities, has an important role in the story. This institutional support does not establish that the series depicts a specific real operation.
An original naval-operation project
The project was first announced under the working title “Kod Adı: Alesta” and later renamed “Operasyon Alesta.” Project design was attributed to Onur Böber and Cemil Yavuz, directing to Yunus Ozan Korkut, and production to Üs Yapım.
Bringing maritime themes to the screen
At SAHA 2026, Üs Yapım representative Süreyya Yaşar Önal said the project aimed to address what he described as a gap in bringing Türkiye’s maritime capabilities and defence technologies to television and cinema.
Production and release preparation
Filming began after reading rehearsals in April 2026. Earlier reports stated that filming would take place in Istanbul and İzmit, while later set work was carried out aboard TCG Istanbul.
