How did Turgay Tamer, the prison doctor in the Kozinoğlu investigation, die, and what is his link to Kurtlar Vadisi?
Turgay Tamer (campus doctor at Silivri Prison in 2011 — detained and released in the investigation; no case against him)
The cause of death is not yet known. According to an exclusive report by Nefes on 27 September 2026, Turgay Tamer, who had been detained and released in the Kaşif Kozinoğlu investigation, was found motionless in the living room of his home in Büyükçekmece, Istanbul, by his wife on her return from abroad; the body was sent to the Forensic Medicine Institute and the exact cause will be determined by autopsy. Nefes reported that the initial examination found nothing suspicious and that Tamer was diabetic; Türkiye newspaper, by contrast, wrote that an investigation had been opened into a death "considered suspicious", and Takvim reported that the death was "considered suspicious" and that an inquiry had begun. The press introduced Tamer as a "forensic medicine doctor"; the Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office corrected this: in 2011 Tamer was the campus doctor at the prison where Kozinoğlu was held, was not a forensic doctor and did not treat Kozinoğlu, and had been unable to practise for some time because of health problems. He has no known direct link to Kurtlar Vadisi — the common thread is the same investigation, in which the series is also being examined. The same day NTV/DHA reported that Pana Film director İhsan Karademir had given a statement as a suspect and been released under judicial control. There is no official information linking the death to the investigation.

What is the link between Bayram Özbek, arrested in the Kozinoğlu investigation, and the Kurtlar Vadisi screenplay?
Bayram Özbek (former police chief, FETÖ convict — suspect, remanded) · Raci Şaşmaz (screenwriter, witness; denies the claims)
On 23 September 2026 the Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that Bayram Özbek, a former police chief "found to have been involved in the screenplay of the series Kurtlar Vadisi", had been remanded in custody by the Silivri Criminal Judgeship of Peace on charges of "establishing or managing an armed terrorist organisation" and "incitement to intentional killing", in the investigation into the 2011 prison death of former MİT officer Kaşif Kozinoğlu. It is the first arrest in the case whose stated grounds refer directly to the series' screenplay; Özbek was already in prison in FETÖ proceedings. The distinction that matters: the prosecutor's sentence is an investigative finding and a remand measure, not a court verdict — what the involvement consisted of (which episode, which scene, which date) was not disclosed, and the file is under a confidentiality order. Outlets rendered the same statement with different force: "found to have been involved" (DHA), "found to have had a hand in the screenplay" (Sabah, GZT), "found to have interfered with the screenplay and played a role in shaping public perception" (Aydınlık), "who contributed to the screenplay" (BirGün). The production side denies the premise: in his 14 September statement, screenwriter and producer Raci Şaşmaz said "we have no connection, and never have had, with any power or criminal centre, legal or illegal" and called claims that Ali Fuat Yılmazer interfered with the scripts "pure slander"; the production company Pana Film said on 24 September that Özbek "never at any time worked as a screenwriter, was part of the writing team or held an advisory role" on either production. Even the number of detainees is disputed: Sabah and GZT wrote 8, BirGün and Diken 9.

Why are Kurtlar Vadisi Pusu actors Sedat Savtak (Kaşifoğlu) and Emin Olcay (Ömer Baba) being questioned in the Kozinoğlu investigation?
Sedat Savtak (Kazım Kaşifoğlu) · Emin Olcay (Ömer Baba / Ömer Candan) — both as witnesses, not suspects
The Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office will hear two Kurtlar Vadisi Pusu (Valley of the Wolves: Ambush) actors as witnesses in the reopened investigation into the 2011 prison death of former MİT officer Kaşif Kozinoğlu: Sedat Savtak, who played "Kazım Kaşifoğlu" in 2011, and Emin Olcay, the series' "Ömer Baba". The news broke on 21 September 2026 via the İHA and DHA agencies and was carried by Habertürk, Hürriyet, Haber7, Takvim and GZT. Neither is a suspect and no date has been announced. Savtak told CNN Türk on 18 September, "I didn't know I was playing Kozinoğlu"; Olcay, in an interview with Sabah/Günaydın published that morning, said the script "gradually deteriorated" after Osman Sınav left and called the investigation "very right". Olcay's remarks about the Şaşmaz brothers are his personal assessment; no reply from the production existed when this was written.

Why has an expert review been ordered into Kurtlar Vadisi Pusu, and what exactly is the prosecutor examining?
Screenwriters Raci Şaşmaz, Bahadır Özdener, Cüneyt Aysan (witnesses) · Necati Şaşmaz (Polat Alemdar, lead; not named in the investigation)
The Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has appointed an expert panel to examine specific episodes of Kurtlar Vadisi Pusu (Valley of the Wolves: Ambush) as part of the reopened investigation into the 2011 death of former Turkish intelligence (MİT) official Kaşif Kozinoğlu. The news broke via DHA on 16 September 2026 and was carried by Habertürk and Yeni Asır. The panel will look at three points: the character "Kazım Kaşifoğlu" being portrayed as a traitor and then killed, vehicle plates carrying the letter group "FG" in some scenes, and whether certain episodes contain FETÖ/PDY propaganda, coded messages or organisational instructions. This is a review order, not a finding or a court ruling. Screenwriters Raci Şaşmaz, Bahadır Özdener and Cüneyt Aysan gave witness statements on 14 September; according to Yeni Asır, Şaşmaz said the series is entirely fiction and that the writers had no prior knowledge of any real death.

Why did the Kurtlar Vadisi Pusu screenwriters testify in the Kozinoğlu investigation?
Raci Şaşmaz, Bahadır Özdener, Cüneyt Aysan (screenwriters) · Kaşif Kozinoğlu (former MİT officer)
The screenwriters of Kurtlar Vadisi Pusu (Valley of the Wolves: Ambush), Raci Şaşmaz, Bahadır Özdener and Cüneyt Aysan, gave statements at Silivri Courthouse on 14 September 2026 as "persons with knowledge" in the reopened investigation into the 2011 death of former Turkish intelligence (MİT) officer Kaşif Kozinoğlu in Silivri Prison; the session lasted about two hours. The reason is a timeline the prosecutors flagged: episode 136, aired on 10 November 2011, shows a character named "Kazım Kaşifoğlu" held in a cell and threatened with death; Kozinoğlu died in prison two days later; in episode 139, aired on 8 December 2011, the same character is killed with a syringe. Prosecutors want to know what information the script was based on; the writers are not suspects. Four suspects are in custody and thirteen are under judicial control; the content of the statements has not been made public and no court has ruled on anything.
