What's in this series?
Production context
Bay Yanlış was produced by Gold Film. The official credits list Aslı Zengin and Banu Zengin Tak for the story and screenplay, Deniz Yorulmazer as director, and Faruk Turgut as producer. The production is classified as a romantic comedy.
Ideas of right and wrong in relationships
In an interview, Özge Gürel said that the apparently contrasting characters of Ezgi and Özgür explore how easily right and wrong can become confused in human relationships. In the same interview, she also offered personal comments on the effects of social media, the desire for approval, and being liked on contemporary relationships. This is the actor’s interpretation of the characters and themes, separate from the official plot description.
The interpretation of Ezgi
Özge Gürel described Ezgi as motivated not only by romantic relationships but also by a desire to be happy and build a family. In the actor’s interpretation, Ezgi’s disappointments reflect relationship and decision-making problems that people may experience in different forms; this does not establish that the series is based on a real person’s life.
International interest before broadcast
In NOW’s interview with Özge Gürel, Bay Yanlış was described as having appeared on most-talked-about lists in nine countries before its premiere. This indicates pre-broadcast international attention, but it should not by itself be treated as evidence of viewing success or lasting cultural impact.
